I have resubmitted "The California Democracy Act" to the Attorney General's office and have asked for a new title and summary based on the poll results. We have begun a letter-writing campaign to Attorney General Jerry Brown. I've attached a copy of the letter below. Please send the letter to Jerry Brown and send copies to all your friends.
The Attorney General's official e-mail address is initiative.coordinator@doj.ca.gov
If we get an appropriate new title and summary we will have until June 24 to certify for the November ballot.
If you support this effort, please let Jerry know.
And please let us know you sent the letter by e-mailing us at: CaliforniansForDemocracy@yahoo.com
Best wishes,
George Lakoff

SAMPLE LETTER:
Dear Attorney General Brown,
As you know, the language of "The California Democracy Act" as originally submitted reads "All legislative actions on revenue and budget must be determined by a majority vote." It concerned bringing democracy to the state legislature.
The recent exhaustive poll by David Binder Research showed that the initiative in its original language is supported by a margin of 73-to-22 percent of likely voters, whereas your title and summary of the same initiative is opposed by 38-to-56 percent of likely voters - a 69 percent shift. As the Binder Report observes, your title and summary does not fit the meaning and intent of the initiative as submitted. Rather, it misleads most voters into thinking that the effect of the initiative would be to raise their taxes, when there would not be such an effect on most voters.
If you have not read the report, it can be found at: www.CaliforniansForDemocracy.com
As Attorney General, you are obligated to provide a title and summary that fits the actual meaning and intent of the initiative. I am asking you to fulfill that obligation by providing a new, accurate title and summary the recently resubmitted second version of "The California Democracy Act", according to its actual meaning and intent as follows:
Ensures that all legislative actions on revenue and budget must be determined by a majority vote, and ends the ability of a minority of legislators to block the will of the majority on such legislation.
This title and summary would accurately reflect the real effect as well as the meaning and intent of the initiative.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
